Fort Myers, Fla. (PRWEB) January 29, 2014

On World Cancer Day 2014, 21st Century Oncology – the nation’s foremost cancer treatment network and largest radiation therapy provider – is proud to raise awareness for the needs of cancer patients throughout the world.

In addition to operating 133 cancer treatment centers in local communities throughout the U.S., the cancer treatment network also operates 33 centers located in six countries in Latin America.

“21st Century Oncology was founded on the belief that every cancer patient should have access to academic-quality cancer care in their community,” says Daniel E. Dosoretz, M.D., F.A.C.R., F.A.C.R.O., President, CEO and Co-Founder of 21st Century Oncology. “To implement this philosophy, we invest in new software, training and equipment with the goal of equipping each of our radiation treatment centers with state-of-the-art technology that facilitates better clinical results.”

World Cancer Day focuses on the advances in cancer care technology and aims to correct the myths surrounding cancer, bringing awareness to prevention and early detection. With advances in care modalities, many cancers can now be treated effectively so that patients can continue with their normal lifestyle.

21st Century Oncology uses an Integrated Cancer Care (ICC) approach in the U.S. and around the globe, focusing on synchronizing our network of physicians and developing partnerships to provide patients with a more comprehensive treatment team. The goal of our clinical and support teams is to better target and treat tumors collaboratively, improving our patients’ experience and outcomes.

“The fight against cancer is a global effort,” says Dr. Dosoretz. “By pairing experienced clinicians with the most advanced technology available, we are able to provide new therapies and improved outcomes to patients in Latin America and abroad.”
