January marked a month of industry and consumer showcases for Elio Motors Inc. The startup transportation company presented their $6,800, 84 mpg, three-wheel vehicle at three major events this month to spread awareness about their company’s commitment to fuel-efficiency, vehicle design and technology.
On Jan. 18, Paul Elio, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Elio Motors, unveiled an updated prototype design at the Sundance Film Festival. Elio Motors’ attendance at the Sundance Film Festival emphasized the transportation company’s commitment to having a presence among environmental enthusiasts. The positive reaction from celebrities, the film industry and the public at large was overwhelming.
After revealing the fourth Elio prototype, Elio Motors kicked off its Elio Commemorative Project, an initiative that will collect signatures from celebrities on two Elio vehicles. The first vehicle will be part of a charity auction with proceeds benefitting Veterans Service Organizations. The second vehicle will be displayed in a museum to commemorate the company’s historical significance.
Prior to Sundance, Elio Motors participated at the ShowStoppers 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, NV. on Jan. 7. The Elio was joined by other pioneering businesses and brands at the event to showcase its customizable technology features and industry leading mpg and price position.
“The Elio was a hit at ShowStoppers as hundreds of people stopped by our display to experience the Elio firsthand,” said Mr. Elio. “Visitors were captivated by the vehicle’s unique three-wheel design, the spaciousness of the cockpit and the preemptive price and mpg leadership position. The turn out and response that we received was extremely positive.”
After ShowStoppers, Elio Motors attended the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Ariz. From Jan. 12 to Jan. 19. The Elio generated nonstop crowds at the auction, which caters to car owners and automotive enthusiasts with the sale of automobiles, trucks, motorcycles and other collector’s items.
“Looking back on this past month, Elio Motors gained an incredible amount of momentum,” said Mr. Elio. “We were able to highlight several different aspects of our prototypes at the events we attended and the feedback that we received from ShowStoppers, Barrett-Jackson and the Sundance Film Festival exceeded our expectations. We are looking forward to carrying this momentum into the rest of 2014.”
