For Two Chattanooga Businesses, Electricity Savings Are Shocking: Usage Cut over 60 Percent, Property Value Increases $100,000+
Chattanooga, TN (PRWEB) January 31, 2014 -- A new company in Chattanooga is helping local businesses and homeowners dramatically reduce their energy usage while putting a lot of “green” back in their wallets. Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Consulting (EES Consulting), a nationwide firm offering remarkable energy cost savings to commercial and industrial facilities as well as homeowners, opened its Chattanooga office this past June 2013 and has grown further into the Dalton/North Georgia market.
EES Consulting has recently completed several projects in Chattanooga, including:
• Dunlap Industries – An energy efficient lighting retrofit has significantly improved visibility in the Dunlap Industries warehouse while reducing kilowatt usage per hour. The project has increased property value by $135,000, and with a 35 percent return on investment, the company is expected to recoup its investment in less than three years.
• CitiPark Garage – Working with Berry & Hunt (property owner/manager), EES Consulting proposed a lighting retrofit for CitiPark Garage that would not only enhance the brightness and security of the facility, but would provide the owner with a very quick return of its investment. With a 90 percent return on investment, this lighting retrofit is expected to achieve a payback in just under one year. Electricity usage is expected to be reduced by over 60 percent, and the market value of the property has increased by $180,000.
R. Steve Hunt, managing director at Berry & Hunt, notes that the company “is well pleased with its participation with EES Consulting.”
“With the volatility of energy prices, we are finding that business and home owners in the Chattanooga region are interested in energy efficiency solutions and upgrades with a four-year payback or less,” said Mark W. Huth, EES Consulting Southeast Area Developer. “Property owners and managers have been receptive to EES Consulting’s approach as our assessments are affordable, implementation is turn-key and project financing often produces positive cash flow after energy savings are factored.”
EES Consulting’s Chattanooga and North Georgia operations are led by Steve Pickett, Ethan Collier and Dan Levan. Pickett and Collier, both Tennessee natives, come to EES having built two Chattanooga construction companies, Pickett Homes, Inc., and Collier Construction, respectively. Levan has more than 25 years of business finance and management experience complementing Pickett and Collier’s construction expertise.
EES Consulting uses its patented, three-step EESy Method to assess, implement and finance customized energy efficiency solutions for commercial and residential clients. In Phase 1, EES consultants evaluate a building’s energy usage and recommend practical efficiency solutions – such as solar window film, LED lighting and reflective roof coatings. In Phase 2, EES acts as the general contractor to implement the upgrades and in Phase 3, EES provides project financing and recommendations to businesses and homeowners on tax incentives and rebates to help offset the project cost.
