President David Rowe announced today that Centenary College of Louisiana is increasing the minimum wage for its regular, full-time and part-time staff members. This increase is effective immediately and going forward.
“I was inspired by the President’s call to action in the State of the Union,” said President Rowe. “Implementing this change today is also in line with Centenary’s long-held values. I believe this is in the best interest of our hard-working employees, our institution, and our community.”
The new minimum wage for all regular, full-time and part-time staff members at Centenary is now $10.10. The increase follows President Barack Obama’s call in the State of the Union Address for business leaders and employers to raise their employee’s minimum wages. President Rowe also asked Centenary’s two major vendors, National Resource Management and Sodexo, to do likewise for their employees on our campus, and each agreed. National provides facilities and grounds maintenance and custodial services, and Sodexo is the College’s food service provider.
Centenary College of Louisiana is a selective, residential, national liberal arts college affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Founded in 1825, it is the oldest chartered liberal arts college west of the Mississippi river and is a member of the Associated Colleges of the South.
