St. Johns Housing Partnership’s Executive Director Elected as 2014 Chairman of St. Johns Builders Council
St. Augustine, FL (PRWEB) February 03, 2014 -- St. Johns Housing Partnership (SJHP) is pleased to announce Bill Lazar, Founder and Executive Director, is serving as the 2014 Chairman of the St. Johns Builders Council (SJBC). Mr. Lazar has been an active member of SJBC since 2001 and served in various capacities on the board throughout his membership, most recently serving as the 1st Vice Chair.
During the induction ceremony, Lazar presented a special award to members of the St. Johns County District’s Construction Academies for their commitment to the construction trade programs in four of the local high schools (Pedro Menendez, Creekside, Nease and Bartram). Their commitment to developing and training in architecture, carpentry, energy, masonry, design and environmental engineering is crucial to the construction industry. These schools are applauded for nurturing an interest in construction among youth while developing relationships with the industry. Training future generations to become craftsmen/women and learning the construction trade is vital to our economy and having the resources to continue building and maintaining homes, businesses and infrastructure in the United States is necessary and important.
The St. Johns Builders Council is an affiliate of the Northeast Florida Builders Association (NEFBA) and is a not-for-profit trade association representing members of the community who earn their livelihood from the housing and construction industries. They are committed to quality construction, affordable housing, and sensible growth, the sanctity of the environment and private properties rights.
On January 17th, at the 2014 NEFBA Kickoff and Introduction of Officers, Mr. Lazar was awarded the Bill Soforenko Affordable Housing Award for his leadership. He and his staff at St. Johns Housing Partnership have been strong advocates promoting energy conservation and building performances as best practices for all affordable housing programs.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by NEFBA. This is a critical year to ask the Florida Legislature to support full funding of the Sadowski Housing Trust Fund. While parts of our industry are starting to grow again, it’s the Trust Funds that stimulate affordable housing efforts statewide. We need everyone’s support.”
Bill Lazar’s commitment to the affordable housing industry and his tenacious efforts to make sure everyone has the opportunity to live in decent, safe, energy-efficient and affordable homes is what drives St. Johns Housing Partnership to find solutions to our community’s housing needs on a daily basis.
SJHP, an innovative advocate of affordable housing, is committed to providing safe, energy-efficient and affordable housing for low-income residents of Northeast Florida. Developing partnerships between the public and private sectors, the organization rebuilds neglected homes and neighborhoods, works to improve disadvantaged areas and enhance community, economic and social development. SJHP also offers financial counseling, budget-planning, foreclosure prevention and a rental program to further serve the community.
