New England Fertility Reaches Out to Educate Frustrated Singles and Couples Wanting to Start Their Families
Stamford, CT (PRWEB) February 03, 2014 -- New England Fertility, one of the region's oldest fertility centers in the New York City metropolitan area, will begin hosting monthly free fertility testing and fertility informational seminars beginning February 27, 2014.
The events are designed to reach out to the general public to educate men and women about the diagnosis of infertility and treatment options that may be available.
A new survey of American women, published January 27, 2014, in the medical journal Fertility and Sterility, suggests there are major gaps in females' understanding about their own reproductive health, fertility, and conception.
"It was surprising to me that between 40 and 60 percent of [respondents] had complete misconceptions about basic concepts relating to their own biology," study researcher Dr. Lubna Pal, an associate professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences at the Yale School of Medicine, told The Huffington Post. "We're not talking about heavy science; we're talking about basics."
New England Fertility's founder and medical director, Gad Lavy, MD, will speak at the seminars and answer attendees’ questions.
"People wanting to have a baby and not having success are often very frustrated. But getting some basic information about options can not only alleviate the frustration but can lead to great hope and excitement," Lavy says.
The center, founded in 1991, is well known for their large surrogacy and donor egg program. These topics will also be covered in the walk.
"Patients come to New England Fertility from all over the New York area to be in our surrogacy and donor egg program," Lavy says. "And in recent years our patients are coming to Stamford from the Middle East and Europe. We give them hope and help them realize their dream so it's worth it to them to travel," he adds.
Pre-registration for the monthly events is available online at http://www.NEFertility.com.
Fertility testing is limited to female patients only, though affordable testing is available to male patients with an appointment.
