Pearson Chosen by the University of Florida to Promote UF Online’s New Bachelor’s Degree Programs
GAINESVILLE, FL (PRWEB) February 03, 2014 -- Pearson has expanded its relationship with the University of Florida (UF) to launch UF Online for baccalaureate degree programs. UF Online is targeted to qualified, first-time-in-college and transfer students who are seeking the rigor of the university’s degree programs in a flexible online environment. Through the relationship, Pearson will grow enrollment and provide support to the university with technology, e-Textbooks (if instructors request), recruitment marketing, enrollment management, student support and retention services, as well as support for research in UF’s Online Research Institute. UF will maintain ownership of all decisions related to curricula, faculty, admission and enrollment standards.
UF Online classes began on January 6 with five online undergraduate degree programs, as well as select general education courses. Two additional programs will launch in the summer. Providing the same academic quality and content as the on-ground degree programs, enrollment numbers for the online program are projected to reach 24,000 over the next 10 years.
“We’ve chosen Pearson because of its proven record in providing support to online higher education,” said Elizabeth Phillips, executive director of UF Online. “The resources and expertise Pearson brings to the table allows us to focus on what we do best — teaching and research.”
Currently ranked third in the nation for its value among public universities by Kiplinger’s, students from Florida will pay no more than 75 percent of the cost of tuition, or about $112 per credit hour. Combined with savings on room and board and exemptions from certain on-campus fees, the university estimates online students will pay about $10,800 less per year than those who attend classes at the university. Further details on degree programs and tuition can be found at http://ufonline.ufl.edu/.
“UF has some of the most impressive academic credentials coveted by both students and employers in the U.S.,” said David Daniels, managing director of Higher Education Services, Pearson North America. “We are excited about this opportunity to work with UF in its tremendous efforts to create a world-class online undergraduate education offering that will increase access to a top-tier education for students who are unable to live in the Gainesville area.”
This comprehensive relationship extends UF’s existing association with Pearson Embanet, a unit of Pearson Online Learning Services, which currently supports eight online graduate programs at the institution.
Pearson is the leading provider of comprehensive educational services for fully online degree programs. These include market research, recruitment marketing, student support and retention services, materials developed specifically for online programs by leading instructional designers and subject matter experts, faculty support, and cloud-based learning management systems with advanced data analytics to analyze trends in student performance and evaluate learning outcomes.
