Lightbulb World supplies 8,000 bulbs for the Paris Fashion Show
(PRWEB UK) 5 February 2014 -- While most people’s primary focus might have been on the latest clothing trends on display at Paris Fashion Week, one UK firm quite literally lit up the show – Lightbulb World supplied no less than 8,000 light bulbs for the giant cascading and flashing panels as seen below, illuminating one of the fashion industry’s most important annual meetings.
Paris Fashion Week is part of the “big four” international fashion meets, in conjunction with similar events in London, Milan and New York. Each city typically hosts an event on a quarterly basis, providing the world’s most forward-thinking designers with a platform to display their latest creations for the season. The Paris event is organised by the French Fashion Federation, and consists of shows from some of the world’s major fashion houses, including Saint Laurent, Jean Paul Gaultier, Guy Laroche and Christian Dior.
Although the show lasts for just seven days, the organisation and piecing together of such an event requires months of planning, with various different companies liaising with one another in order to produce the spectacle that is Paris Fashion Week – a must-visit on the calendar of any fashionista.
Lightbulb World’s involvement with Paris Fashion Week happened via a client of the company, Lumiere et Son Paris – a commercial lighting firm which specialises in lighting design for various major events, including concerts, theatre productions and fashion shows. In order to put together a captivating light show to match the aesthetic of what Paris Fashion Week is all about, Lumiere et Son turned to Lightbulb World in order to source thousands of bulbs.
A spokesperson for Son et Lumiere said “such events take a lot of meticulous planning, from both a design and logistical perspective. It’s important to ensure that we’re prepared, and to ensure we have all of our equipment at the ready prior to opening. We therefore have to be certain to source our materials from reliable suppliers – companies who can deliver on time, and to our exact specifications. This is a major event in the worldwide fashion calendar, so it requires professionalism.”
The show was a resounding success, with couturiers from around the world showing off their latest designs on the runway and dazzling the world’s fashion press, which ascended upon the city with aplomb. The week also attracted its fair share of celebrities, with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian spotted at the Le Maurice hotel, a well-known haunt amongst the fashion set.
