Richmond, Virginia (PRWEB) February 05, 2014 -- Beginning February 1, 2014, RVANews, the online Richmond news and lifestyle hub, will bring all of its community news sites closer under the umbrella. Formerly, popular community news site like Hills and Heights, Fan of the Fan, and Shockoe News (complete list below) operated under separate editors. Making each site into an extension of RVANews.com allows for more stability, shared editing resources, a unified look and feel, and, most importantly, a more streamlined process for publishing stories that might be specific to one neighborhood yet also of interest to citywide readers. This course of action also lets RVANews devote more resources to the community news sites, which translates to higher quality and more frequent coverage.
Richard Hayes of Hills and Heights will be expanding his role to community news editor.
What this means for readers:
For each community news site, the original URL will automatically direct readers to the new page; each archived post will also still be available. Each site will retain its signature colors, but the design and format will blend more seamlessly with that of RVANews.com.
Complete list of community news sites affected:
• Hills & Heights
• Greater Jackson Ward News
• North Richmond News
• Near West End News
• East End Daily
