The idea is to maintain our promise to provide quality editorial content, but with a new look and a greater persistence to be part of the daily lives of our readers.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 03, 2014

25 years ago, Martha de la Torre, co-founder of El Clasificado along with Joe Badame, envisioned to publish articles in their new Spanish classifieds magazine to help the Hispanic community. Although her main goal was to supply the high demand of jobs, homes for sale and other classified ads in the Hispanic market in southern California, De la Torre made sure to include relevant articles that would be useful to Latino immigrants building a life in the United States.

With a pick-up rate of 85 percent in more than 23,000 distribution points, the articles about entertainment, kitchen recipes, health, education, and finance, among others, have had a significant role in the success of the magazine, with a circulation of 510,000 magazines in most of California and a county in Arizona.

Keeping to its mission statement, El Clasificado has taken a step further by redesigning its editorial content with a fresh new look that is easy to read and has a theme that reflects current times. Starting on February 5, more than 1.5 million weekly readers will have access to sports articles that focus on the Mexican Soccer League, El Tri, and its journey to the World Cup and the best European leagues.

Readers will also be up to date on the latest immigration news, hoping for the immigration reform that will grant legal status to millions of immigrants. The Entertainment section will feature Hispanic celebrities and the entertainment industry. Last, but not least, the Health section will feature news on the health reform under the Obama Administration.

The redesign comes with the introduction of a new contributor, Ismael Cala, renowned journalist for CNN en Español and host of his own TV program, “Cala”, that will feature a monthly column with El Clasificado, talking about self motivation and inspiration for the Latino Community based on his experience in the US.

As part of the redesign, El Clasificado will feature eight different magazine covers for each region in which the magazine is distributed. Each region will have local-based content under the section "Comunidad," which will feature news on immigration, politics, and local events taking place on the weekend. The local-based content will be specific to Los Angeles, San Diego, Imperial County, Inland Empire, Bakersfield, Fresno, Orange County and Yuma (AZ) in order to establish a greater connection to the community in each city and region.

For Pablo Scarpellini, editor for El Clasificado, the change is due to "an effort to connect with our readers on a deeper level after having made a radical change four years ago. The idea is to maintain our promise to provide quality editorial content, but with a new look and a greater persistence to be part of the daily lives of our readers."

In addition, there will be more content about education, finance, self-help, the popular recipe of the week (always with Latino flavor) and other sections to come.
