Get salary pay with no experience and no previous education!
1. Get your CDL Class A driver’s license.
The first step toward becoming a truck driver is to get your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A. Getting your CDL requires that you have a valid driver’s license, and that you are at least 18 years old. Many companies require that you are at least 21 years old, because you are only legally allowed to drive a semi across state lines after you have turned 21.
Truck Drivers start around $35,000 per year. More experience equals more money, and after 2-3 years of experience you could be making $70,000 per year.
2. CDL Training
There isn’t a need for formal schooling before starting your CDL training; even those without their GED can attend CDL training. Different companies and CDL schools have different hiring criteria based on a person’s criminal background and driving record. At National Truck Driving Jobs, we work with many different companies who offer CDL training, and there is a place for anyone who wants their CDL to get their CDL.
2014 CDL Schools have an average tuition cost of about $4,000. Some companies offer $0 tuition if you work for them after the training/school. You can call NTDJ at 888-529-8512 to find a zero tuition program.
Once a driver has passed the CDL written test, and the driving test, he, or she, will go out on the road with a trainer to get some real life experience. Many companies have their CDL training program set up that if you attend their CDL program, you will be offered a job once you have completed training. Other companies, that aren’t running delivery routes, but focus solely on getting drivers their CDL, will set you up with a trucking company so that you can get that on the job training, and have a source of income after you have received your CDL.
According to the America Trucking Association, there are almost 3.5 million truck drivers in the United States, and the need for drivers continues to grow. Join the industry today and make 2014 your year!
