Now in its seventh year, TurningPoint Executive Search announced the completion of its record year. “We are extremely pleased with our 2013 results,” explains Ken Schmitt, Founder and President of TurningPoint. “While the job market continues its slow climb out of the recession, our focus on placing top notch sales and marketing professionals continued to pay dividends. Our revenues increased by just over 40%, while our number of placements was up by 26% year over year.” 2013 saw candidate placements in San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles across a wide variety of industries and company structures.

In 2011, TurningPoint migrated away from accounting and finance recruiting, to build a niche in the world of sales and marketing recruiting. While rebranding the firm took some time to take effect, the move has served them well. “Surprisingly, there are very few firms in the southern California region, specializing in sales and marketing recruiting. Our team saw an opportunity to rebrand our business, by leveraging our extensive network of sales and marketing talent, and they have executed in superb fashion.” TurningPoint prides itself in maintaining a retention ratio above 80% - i.e. 80% of their placements remain with the same company 1 and 2 years later.

Also in 2011, Schmitt launched the Sales Leadership Alliance (SLA) as a forum for the region’s sales and marketing leaders to share best practices, hear world class speakers and network with peers across disciplines. Now with two chapters – San Diego and Orange County – the SLA attracts nearly 50 professionals to their monthly events, and boasts more than 60 annual members. “There are so many organizations that treat sales and marketing as separate silos, with very little collaboration,” describes Schmitt. “The goal of the SLA is to foster enhanced communication, provide an opportunity for each group to walk a mile in the other’s shoes, and to identify ways in which they can increase the enterprise value of their business, by creating a more cohesive customer experience.”
