San Diego, CA (PRWEB) February 03, 2014
Vivantech, a higher ed technology consulting company, developer of enterprise-grade, open-source software, and premier Kuali Commercial Affiliate (KCA), today announced the successful completion of a Kuali Financial System (KFS) implementation at the University of Maryland (UMD). With the January 6 launch of KFS, UMD has enhanced its business process automation, reduced paper-based workflows, and improved its visibility and reporting capabilities.
Vivantech worked with UMD to deploy a highly integrated set of financial services modules, including general ledger, chart of accounts and financial processing, purchasing/accounts payable, capital assets management, labor distribution, electronic document workflow, and financial reporting. The KFS project with UMD is one of many Kuali implementations performed by Vivantech over the past six years.
“UMD clearly benefited from Vivantech’s experience with Kuali,” said John Farley, UMD Assistant Vice President and KFS Project Manager. “Our KFS roll-out was smooth, with virtually no operational issues. Thanks in large part to exceptional system performance and response times, we’ve had a pain-free transition. Vivantech’s rigorous testing and their ability to anticipate our capacity needs really paid off for us.”
Farley added that the Vivantech team excelled at developing creative solutions to meet UMD-specific requirements. “With their deep understanding of Kuali, they were able to take some very innovative approaches that optimize network performance,” he commented.
The University of Maryland joins a growing number of colleges and universities that have selected open-source Kuali software for their ERP systems. Designed specifically for the business process needs of higher educational institutions, Kuali provides universities like UMD an economical alternative to proprietary ERP software. The Kuali Financial System is part of the Kuali suite of ERP software, developed through community source collaboration.
“This successful KFS deployment at UMD demonstrates how Kuali ERP can automate complex, university-specific business processes and at the same time help higher education institutions keep their money in their mission by avoiding excessive commercial licensing costs,” said Randy Ozden, Vivantech President and Chief Executive Officer. “We appreciate the opportunity to join forces with UMD for this important Kuali implementation.”
