The leadership of "555 Days of Prayer to Save America" took time yesterday to explain the need for the next phase of the prayer initiative, a 100-day-long cry for God's reform of His Church. The 555-day-long prayer initiative, which takes its theme from the 555-foot height of the Washington Monument, has been described as "A monument to God, in prayer," and is presently at day number 337. On February 23, 2014, the next 100-day phase will begin. It will consist of a 100-day outcry "to the Lord for the purification and restoration of our people, His Church."
Robert Berry, "Save America Gathering" CEO, and event spokesperson, detailed why the 100-day prayer is, in his opinion, necessary. "We are becoming like the church at the time of reformation. There are many devout believers, but yet, many leaders are wearing the cloth for greed or power, or personal gain, having lifted themselves up as gods, before men. Many brothers and sisters are living lives steeped in unbelief. How do we, then, bring the Gospel to the a people who hold themselves up to be gods unto themselves? That is why the hand of God, Almighty, is moving to remold His Church. There is a strong movement in the United States of America to stand up for Jesus and decry the present path of the nation, and to call for a return to Christian values. Globally, we see the Pope bringing reform to our Catholic brothers and sisters. We also, sadly, see persecution in many lands."
"By purification," Berry continued, "we mean the pure adherence to the Word of God, throughout our members, and the removal of Satanic and worldly influences from the leaders and members of the Body of Christ, The Church. By restoration, we mean the return of a Church with the life of the Book of Acts Church, and the fervency of The Church during the first expansion, which occurred in the centuries following the Apostles' works. We mean a return to scripture-based teachings and lives, and true, honest worship given to our worthy God."
The present prayer, a 100-day prayer asking forgiveness for the sins of The United States of America, is also based, said Berry, "in biblical scripture. "Look at the text of The 2nd Epistle to Timothy, chapter 3, verses 1 through 5. "But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people." Is there anyone who reads this who is not fully and truly reminded of the U.S.A., right now?"
"555 Days of Prayer to save America" will end on September 11, 2014, with "The Great Wave Offering."
