Announcement: BluesGuitar.com Releases “Key to the Highway Blues Turnaround Style in A - Blues Guitar Lesson”
(PRWEB) February 03, 2014 -- The Turnaround is used many styles of music. The Blues Turnaround or V, VI, I (5-4-1) Turnaround came from the Ragtime Blues era. The cadence of the Blues Turnaround is backwards from traditional western music. The job of the Blues Turnaround is to show the listener where the chord progression ends and starts over, it does this by ending on the V (five) of the chord progression making it want to resolve back to the I (one).
“The basic idea of a turnaround is to take you from the end back to the top again and as a blues guitar player you want to have plenty of these at your disposal,” says MacLennan. Jon starts off the lick by placing his first finger on the 4th fret of the 5th string and his 4th finger on the 7th fret of the 4th string and demonstrates how to play the lick as follows; he strums the 5th string and then the 4th string and then back to the 5th string again. Then he simple moves his first finger up one half step to the 5th fret and repeats the picking pattern. Then again he moves the note on the 5th string up one half step to the 6th fret, but with his 2nd finger now and repeats the same picking pattern again. Finally he moves the note on the 5th string to the 7th fret with his 3rd finger and strums the 5th and 4th strings together and does a slide downward to nowhere and finishes it off with a E7#5 chord. Guitar TAB’s for this blues guitar lesson are available at BluesGuitar.com.
