Writers Gina Frangello and T Cooper will visit the Santa Fe University of Art and Design campus on Feb. 18 for a reading, Q&A and book signing.

Santa Fe, NM (PRWEB) February 04, 2014

The Creative Writing and Literature Department at Santa Fe University of Art and Design (SFUAD) will welcome visiting writers Gina Frangello and T Cooper to campus on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Frangello and Cooper will present a public reading, Q&A and book signing at 7 p.m. in O’Shaughnessy Performance Space on the SFUAD campus. The event is open to the public and free of charge.

Chicago-based Frangello will read from her latest book, A Life in Men (2014), described by publisher Algonquin Books as “a story that readers everywhere will identify with. It’s a story about love in many different forms, how to live if you have a limited amount of time, and the things that really matter in the end.”

“Gina Frangello’s luminous novel is deeply human, darkly funny, seriously sexy; it brims with artistry and intelligence and heart,” said Emily Rapp, a Santa Fe–based author and a former full-time faculty member at SFUAD. “Frangello illuminates the ways in which life itself is an illusion, but a grand and beautiful and heartbreaking and brilliant one.”

Cooper will highlight his 2012 nonfiction book, Real Man Adventures, a collage of interviews, essays, artwork and letters that tell his story of transitioning from female to male. According to the publisher, McSweeney’s, the book chronicles Cooper’s “often comic exploration of the paradoxes and pleasures of masculinity. He takes us through his transition into identifying as male, and how he went on to marry his wife and become an adoring stepfather of two children.”

“I appreciate T Cooper’s work on so many levels, but certainly he is a virtuoso stylistically,” said Julia Goldberg, a faculty member in the SFUAD Creative Writing and Literature Department. “In both his fiction and nonfiction, he busts apart the conventions of genre and format in ways that are both accessible and provocative. His books take up the themes of society, history and identity with incredible energy and originality of thought. He’s a truly independent author in all respects of the word.”
