Real Estate Attorney Adam Knowlton Joins Loeb & Loeb in Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 05, 2014 -- Loeb & Loeb LLP announced today that Adam I. Knowlton, previously senior vice president and general counsel for real estate investment and management company Younan Properties, Inc. (YPI), has joined the firm’s Real Estate Department as senior counsel in Los Angeles.
Knowlton brings nearly 15 years’ experience in commercial real estate representing institutional investors, property owners, developers and lenders in all aspects of acquisitions, dispositions, commercial leasing, financing and litigation involving office, retail, industrial and mixed-use projects. He also has expertise representing both landlords and tenants in leasing office, industrial and high-end retail properties across the country.
While at YPI, Knowlton oversaw all legal matters for the company, including all acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, corporate finance and corporate governance. During his tenure, Knowlton’s achievements included closing 40 office building acquisitions/dispositions; handling workout restructurings and modifications on commercial office loans valued in excess of $600 million; and completing registration for a $500 million REIT initial public offering. In addition to serving as transactional and operational counsel, Knowlton also managed all litigation matters for YPI and acted as a risk manager for all third party liability claims covered by insurance.
“Adam’s work both in private practice and in house as general counsel gives him a unique perspective on the level of service clients want and deserve,” said Raymond A. Sanseverino, chair of Loeb & Loeb’s Real Estate Department. “His experience in transactional work and in litigation, and, in particular, his breadth of experience handling complex commercial leasing, acquisitions, dispositions, financing and REIT matters, will be a great asset to our team and our clients. We are delighted to have Adam join us.”
“Loeb’s solid reputation in key real estate markets together with its full-service national platform provide a great opportunity for me as I transition back into private practice,” said Knowlton. “I look forward to working with this excellent team.”
Prior to joining YPI, Knowlton was a real estate partner at Freeman, Freeman & Smiley in Los Angeles. Earlier in his career, he worked for six years as a professional banker before becoming an attorney. Knowlton earned his J.D. with distinction from the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific and a B.A. in Economics from Williams College. He is a member of the California and Los Angeles Bar Associations.
