Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea Offers a Vacation to Nourish and Inspire Volunteer Activities
Wailea, Maui, HI (PRWEB) February 05, 2014 -- 2014 is here. Remember that New Year’s resolution list? If helping people is important, then the time is right to pull out what was committed to on paper or keyboard as “the plan” and add the following action item. Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea has a sure-fire way to help guests create a memorable vacation experience while also making a difference in people's lives.
"Voluntourism has always been a part of our DNA," says Jean Claude Wietzel, general manager. "Maui offers many community projects that allow guests to volunteer time and talent--lending a helping hand while creating memories and stories to tell back home after vacationing on the island. Our on-site concierge team is extremely knowledgeable and is always ready to help guests integrate volunteer activities into their vacation itineraries.” Among the volunteer programs suggested this winter-spring season by Four Seasons Resort Maui are the following:
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: The well-established program has taken up residence on Maui, providing home building and landscaping projects for those in need of shelter. All equipment, tools and training is provided. A commitment of at least four hours is preferred but any amount of time is greatly appreciated.
MAUI NUI BOTANICAL GARDEN: Come ready to work with garden attire and covered shoes, weeding in the gardens and planting pots in the nursery. The mission of the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens is to foster appreciation and understanding of Maui’s indigenous plants and their role in Hawaiian cultural expression. The garden is a gathering place for discovery, education and conservation. The Weed and Pot Club meets every Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tools, gloves, sunscreen and refreshments are provided.
HALE KAU KAU: Providing meals to those in need is what Hale Kau Kau is all about. The organization serves free, hot nutritious meals daily on site at St. Teresa’s Church in Kihei, a short 10-minute drive from the resort. They also deliver free meals to the homebound stricken with various disabilities as well as emergency food boxes to families in need.
Food preparation, cooking, serving and delivery help is always appreciated.
KO’IE’IE FISHPOND: At this ancient site, volunteers get a hands-on experience by helping unearth rocks and boulders submerged under sand and replacing them on the fishpond walls. Taking place in several feet of water, staff and regular volunteers are on-site to offer background information about Ko’ie’ie Fishpond and the ongoing restoration project.
