Realtors Quick to Adopt Two-way Video Chats With Google Helpouts Will Have Advantage

Video chats have become mainstream with Skype and Apple’s introduction of Facetime. People of all ages are using the system to talk with their family, watch the grandkids grow and have more intimate contact with their friends and loved ones. This is notable because in the past, middle age and older folk are usually the last to adopt new technology. Since people in virtually all age groups are already using Facetime, businesses adopting 2-way video in their daily operations will find a very willing market.

Facetime is so easy, it seems almost natural to see callers. It is universally accepted that video chat forms a stronger bond between people doing business. This creates a huge opportunity for Realtors. Unfortunately it isn’t easy for people with Apple products to video chat with users of Android or Windows products.

Google sees the next step will be integrating video into everyday online businesses. Some businesses are already using it but there is no search engine specifically committed to video consultations. It’s a market Google intends to dominate with the introduction of Google Helpouts.

The Helpouts system does two things. The first is to provide an easy link between the competing platforms. Now people using an Ipad can easily link to someone with a laptop running Windows or someone with an Android tablet like a Samsung.

The second feature is a listing service that acts like a search engine. Google quietly announced the system late in 2013 while they work out the bugs. To ensure that the system is well received, Google has instituted an application and interview process. They are also offering vanity URLs. Google does not approve everyone that applies. Many people fail the interview process because they don't know what is required and appear unprofessional or unprepared.
