NCH Announces Boyle as New Chairperson of Foundation Board, Three New Board Trustees
Arlington Heights, Ill. (PRWEB) February 06, 2014 -- Longtime Arlington Heights resident and breast cancer survivor Janet E. Boyle has been appointed chair of the Northwest Community Hospital (NCH) Foundation’s Board of Trustees for 2014. Three new board members also were appointed to help lead charitable fundraising efforts for NCH.
An attorney by trade and a Foundation trustee since 2011, Boyle formed Janet E. Boyle & Associates Ltd. in 1989 and now operates offices in Arlington Heights and Chicago through her recently expanded firm, Boyle & Feinberg P.C., a top Chicago divorce firm. She is an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. Boyle received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her Juris Doctor degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology Kent College of Law. She began her career as an assistant Cook County public defender before going solo in the general practice of law for a few years before deciding to specialize in family law.

A longtime resident of Arlington Heights, Boyle credits the doctors, nurses, techs, and other personnel at NCH for saving her life. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2009 and said that her experience over the next 12 months was nothing less than remarkable – from timely and accurate tests and treatments to compassionate and talented caregivers whom she today calls friends. Boyle has been a strong advocate and spokesperson in the community for NCH ever since.
The Foundation Board also appointed the following trustees to three-year terms:
Mary E. Rooney, CPA, CFP, has served as senior vice president and senior trust officer for Cornerstone National Bank & Trust Company since its founding 13 years ago. She has over 30 years of banking experience.
A new resident of Barrington, Rooney earned her bachelor’s degree in science and commerce in accounting at DePaul University. She is a certified public accountant, a certified financial planner, and has a master’s degree in financial planning through the national College for Financial Planning.
Rooney has served NCH for more than a decade in several capacities. She was on the NCH Foundation’s Board from 2002-2010 and is a current member of its planned gifts committee. She also serves on the NCH investment subcommittee where she has helped NCH select and monitor the work of a new investment manager.
Rooney has been involved in a range of non-profit organizations. She rejoined the Foundation Board because of her ongoing interest to ensure the very best healthcare for her family and neighbors.
Frank Russo is owner and CEO of two companies in the medical services field, Frankfort-based Advantage Ambulance, Inc., and Entertainment Medical Services, Inc., which provides medical coverage for concert venues and events across the Midwest.
A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Russo held several jobs early in his career to gain a range of experiences, eventually landing with a private ambulance company. He quickly learned all aspects of the business, preparing him for his ultimate goal of entrepreneurship. Russo has built his companies into successful and well-respected organizations over the past 18 years.
Russo is a generous sponsor of NCH and has been on the planning committee of the Foundation’s Annual Golf Classic for seven years. He was also a major donor for the hospital’s new emergency room redevelopment. He has brought a can-do attitude and business acumen to his involvement with the Foundation and is excited about working to grow its donor base. Among other charitable and volunteer work, Russo has served as a member of the Marine for Life program, which helps provide job placement for returning service men and women. He is a resident of New Lenox.
Gregory P. Guarrine, Ed.D., retired as superintendent of Prospect Heights Elementary School District 23 in 2011, concluding a prestigious career in education that began in 1972.
Guarrine began his career in special education and became director of special education for a Chicago-area elementary school district before landing in District 23 in 1989 to oversee curriculum planning and special education—a role which later carried the title of assistant superintendent.
Guarrine has volunteered for organizations such as Northwest Suburban United Way and the Mount Prospect/Prospect Heights Rotary Club. A resident of Mount Prospect, he and his wife Rose have also been active at the NCH Foundation as members of the President’s Circle donor society since 2010 and more recently as co-chairs of a community President’s Circle committee, which helps grow membership through recruitment and stewardship activities.
Guarrine has always found NCH to be a major asset to the community’s quality of life and has enjoyed building that awareness among others in the community.
