Bloomfield Family Aquatic Center Makes a Splash with New Pool Climbing Wall
Bloomfield, NM (PRWEB) February 11, 2014 -- Bloomfield’s innovative Pool Climbing Wall is part of a new trend in aquatic recreation equipment, especially popular with the hard-to-reach “tween” and teen populations. Their colorful model is 18-feet tall and features blue and green panels with red and yellow climbing holds. The climbing wall also includes a bell at the top for patrons to ring in celebration after they have accomplished their climbing feat.
The Kersplash climbing wall was funded in part through a community investment grant from BHP Billiton, and sourced through the “Friends of the Pool” group. The Pool Climbing Wall is definitely a hit. Steve Gromack, Aquatic Director for the City of Bloomfield says it “adds a new dimension to the pool” and that he hopes it will increase member use during the wintertime.
“The goal is to get more people into the pool,” Gromack says. “We’re hoping that it attracts kids, teenagers and adults.” No ropes or harnesses are required since climbers jump back into the pool after their climb. It’s undecided by users what’s more fun—the climb or the plunge back into the pool. Feedback since the opening has been nothing but positive. “Everybody loves it,” adds Gromack.
