NFL Star Shawne Merriman Announces Partnership With Lights Out Disposal Company--Partnership Aims to Bring Universal Waste Recycling Mainstream
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) February 10, 2014 -- Lights Out Disposal, a rapidly growing Universal Waste Recycling company has entered into a business partnership agreement with NFL star, Shawne “Lights Out” Merriman. In a unique move, the Lights Out Disposal/Shawne Merriman partnership will go beyond the traditional partner model with Merriman also involved as a stakeholder, spokesperson and collaborator on product development and brand marketing.
Merriman’s background, growing up in the densely populated east coast environment, is a leading factor into his push for recycling and being green. “The continuous increase of electronics bought and sold each year means we need to make large strides in the area of recycling to preserve our natural resources and space in landfills,” Mr. Merriman comments. “Because electronics, light bulbs, appliances, and batteries contain toxic elements, ensuring that they are being disposed of in a safe, environmentally sound manner is critical and I look forward to bringing more awareness to this through my relationship with Lights Out Disposal.”
Lights Out Disposal founder and former Inc. Magazine 30 Under 30, Alexis Demko Woodford, has built a strong business foundation with her husband, and has grown to serve over 1,000+ Southern California customers. This includes securing bids for the County of San Diego, a sub for the City of San Diego, and the property management firm, The Irvine Company. Lights Out Disposal’s mission is to create a brand that services the mainstream masses and green/sustainable worlds, and brings them together through recycling. #keepitgreenIRecycle #GreenCarpet #LightsOutDisposal
Merriman earned the nickname “Lights Out” while in high school for his ability to strike opponents with tremendous force. A three-time Pro Bowler and All Pro, he had an amazing career in the NFL, playing with both the San Diego Chargers and the Buffalo Bills, and was named the 2005 AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. Merriman has since made a name for himself in the business and entertainment industries, as an analyst on NFL Network, starring in numerous movies and TV shows, including FOX’s hit, The Mindy Project, and launching the successful apparel and toy line, Lights Out Brand. Merriman attended the State of California Compliance School and is Endorsed by the DTSC for Hazardous Waste with an emphasis on Universal Waste, and is currently completing his Masters of Business Administration at George Washington University. He has taken a special interest in giving back to the community and established Lights On Foundation in an effort to help children and families in need. He recently hosted the 11th annual Lights On Foundation Coat Drive at his alma mater, University of Maryland.
Merriman has an extensive fan and media following, boasting 600,000+ followers on Twitter and hundreds of thousands of followers on both Instagram and Facebook. “We look forward to leveraging Shawne’s network to further our mission of bringing corporate, humanitarian and green worlds together through recycling events,” stated Ms. Woodford. “Lights Out Disposal is thrilled to have him supporting our business model to create a large community outreach and ultimately, energy savings for consumers.”
Lights Out Disposal will host the 1st Annual Green Weekend Recycling Event from March 15-16, 2014 with drop-off recycling locations at Liberty Station: 2277 Rosecrans St. San Diego, Ca. 92106.
