eChalk Hires Jessica Kimelman to Lead Product Development
New York, NY (PRWEB) February 12, 2014 -- eChalk has appointed Jessica Kimelman to lead their next phase of educational technology development.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jessica to the team,” says Torrance Robinson, Chief Product Officer of eChalk. “She brings a unique blend of product management and hands-on classroom experience that will help us target our next phase of product development to meet emerging needs for teachers, administrators and students.”
Ms. Kimelman has more than 13 years of experience in educational technology development and implementation. A former teacher, she holds a Masters of Education in Educational Psychology from Fordham University. She has held product leadership positions at leading education technology companies including Scholastic and Amplify.
Her understanding of learning technology was honed through years of working with teachers in the classroom. As a Senior Technology Coach for Educate LLC, she worked directly with schools in New York City to help teachers effectively integrate technology into the classroom. In addition to teaching technology skills to K-8 students, she worked with teachers through a combination of co-teaching, model teaching, team teaching and professional development workshops. “My experiences working directly in the classroom have really informed my philosophy of educational technology development,” says Ms. Kimelman. “Teachers don’t need technology just for technology’s sake. They need solutions that make their lives easier, and have a real impact on student learning. My goal with eChalk is to make sure we deliver those solutions.”
“Jessica has a deep understanding of how teachers and administrators actually use technology today,” says Mr. Robinson. “Her experience working side-by-side with teachers in the classroom gives her tremendous insight into how technology can impact teaching and learning, and the barriers that teachers face when implementing new technology solutions.”
eChalk was an early pioneer in development of communication and web technologies for the school market. They now offer a range of products and services for K-12 educators, including communication, lesson planning and learning management tools that put ‘learning all in one place’ for teachers, students and parents. Ms. Kimelman’s appointment reflects a continued commitment to expanding their product offerings for teaching, learning and parent engagement. Her appointment follows on the heels of the appointment of James Tsao as Chief Technology Officer.
“Jessica and James together give us a ‘dream team’ for next-generation education technology development,” says Mr. Robinson. “Combining Jessica’s unique background in learning psychology and product development with James’ technology development expertise puts eChalk back at the forefront of K-12 school innovation.”
