Grand Re-Opening of Local USO Dedicated to Local Military Heroes
Jacksonville, Florida (PRWEB) February 12, 2014 -- The Greater Jacksonville USO held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the grand re-opening of its service office to Jacksonville’s military troops and their families. This past Thursday, February 3, 2014, the local USO office at Naval Air Station Jacksonville unveiled a brand new environment that offers area servicemen and women a place to both relax and take advantage of free USO provided services. Ashley Furniture HomeStores-Jacksonville donated all new furnishings to the Greater Jacksonville USO to show the company’s support for members of the armed services and their families. The new furnishings provide local military personnel with a comfortable environment to use free services such as notary publics, internet, and deployment support. Ashley Furniture HomeStores-Jacksonville Marketing Director Tori Benjamin says the local stores have enjoyed the privilege of supporting military families through the USO for five years.
“Our team is always pleased to answer a call for help from the Greater Jacksonville USO. It is a privilege to do anything we can to support our brave men and women in the military and their families.”
The donation from Ashley Furniture HomeStores-Jacksonville makes a significant difference since the Greater Jacksonville USO receives no funding from either the national or state government and relies solely on donations from local people and businesses like Ashley Furniture HomeStores to provide these services. The donations are used to supply first-rate assistance to the 250-thousand military personnel and their dependents who call Jacksonville home. Bob Ross, Director of Development for the Greater Jacksonville USO, is thrilled with the show of support from such a prominent business.
“We are one of 21 independently chartered affiliate USOs and we receive no national support. Ashley Furniture HomeStores-Jacksonville gave our military personnel and their dependents a much needed comfortable space to relax when dealing with tough issues that come from the job we all rely on these men and women to perform.”
The Greater Jacksonville USO operates three physical locations; NAS, Mayport, and Jacksonville International Airport. If you would like to learn how you can help, go to http://www.jaxuso.org.
