The company was founded last year by Megan Milar, Cincinnati, OH, and sells women’s jewelry, fashion accessories, and gift items – all which are handmade by women who are part of “empowerment programs” in several countries.

“My family lived in India for three years due to my husband's job assignment. One thing I could never adjust to during that experience was the vast poverty that many people suffered,” Milar said.

That’s what inspired her to learn about “empowerment programs” – not just in India – but, at this point, in 13 countries.

“These programs teach skills – such as making jewelry or sewing bags – to the impoverished women so they can change their financial circumstances and truly change their lives,” Milar said.

But in order to expand those programs, they need to find distribution channels for their products.

That’s why Milar is launching her company – to provide product distribution.

“We did a lot of testing and research in 2013, and we’ve determined that the social selling model is ideal for our hand-made products,” Milar said, “so now, we’re also going to empower women in the U.S. by providing our Arova Advocate business opportunity. We chose the description 'Advocate' for our sales consultants because we are constantly advocating for the artisans making the products.”

The giving won’t stop there. As the company grows, Milar plans to invest a portion of her company’s profits to fund additional humanity projects. These include areas such as health care (vaccine clinics, clean water, nutrition training), education (school fees, after-school programs, English lessons), and income (living wages, skills training, and micro-lending) to name a few.

To launch the company in the Raleigh area, Milar is holding information webinars on February 13th and February 18th; and holding a special information meeting on February 20th. For more details and to make a reservation, go to http://www.arovastudio.com or call 1-844-myArova.
