The NA Office of Duesseldorf Tourism and Duesseldorf Airport Announce: Duesseldorf’s Art Academy “Open House” – Annual Presentation of Student Works – February 12-16
Düsseldorf, Germany (PRWEB) February 11, 2014 -- Once a year, Düsseldorf’s world-renowned Arts Academy (Kunstakademie) opens its doors to a special showcase of new art by hundreds of its students, the annual “Open House of the Art Academy” (2014 dates: February 12-16). The event started in 1972 and has since become a destination for many who are looking to keep their finger on the pulse of the art world, including gallery owners, agents, and all kinds of art enthusiasts. Admission is free of charge, and guided tours are available for a fee.
Düsseldorf’s Art Academy has been the home to some of the world’s greatest and most famous modern artists. Past students and faculty include: Joseph Beuys, Thomas Demand, Günter Grass, Andreas Gursky, Joerg Immendorff, Anselm Kiefer, Paul Klee , Nam June Paik, Sigmar Polke, Gerhard Richter, and many others. The annual event is an opportunity for members of the world’s art scene to explore current trends and discover emerging artists.
Düsseldorf’s tourism office is offering hotel and city specials for this and other of the city’s art events throughout 2014. Prices start at €58 per night per person based on double-occupancy for a 2-3 star hotel in the city center and at €93 per person for a 4-5 star hotel. All packages include breakfast, a Düsseldorf Welcome Card (free public transportation within city limits plus 30 free or reduced admissions to city attractions), 1 ticket to the permanent collection at the Museum Kunstpalast, 1 ticket to the permanent collection at the Kunstsammlung NRW, K20 Grabbeplatz, and a city information package.
