AmaWaterways Selects Notaviva Vineyards to Host European River Cruise
Purcellville, VA (PRWEB) February 12, 2014 -- Notaviva Vineyards has been selected by AmaWaterways as the first Virginia winery to host a European river cruise. "Melodies of the Danube" is one of AmaWaterways’ wine-themed excursions, which will showcase the culture of the acclaimed wine region along the Danube River. Sailing from Budapest, Hungary to Vilshofen, Germany the journey will include numerous onshore excursions to scenic vineyards, renowned cities and quaint villages. A key attraction of the cruise will be the onboard wine and music lectures, hosted by Notaviva’s co-founder and wine composer, Stephen Mackey. With a degree in music from the University of Miami, ten years on the road as an Internationally touring live audio engineer, and ten years at the helm of Notaviva, Stephen’s style, experiences and personality have made him an engaging presenter.
"Being selected by AmaWaterways to pour our hand crafted award-winning Loudoun wines while sailing through the same regions that inspired Beethoven and Mozart is a dream come true," said Mackey. "With our unique brand identity of pairing wine and music coupled with our expertise in creating memorable customer experiences, our onboard lectures will encourage guests to think about the synergies between wine and music in an entirely new way. This is a pinnacle moment not only for Notaviva Vineyards but for Virginia wine as well."
Gary Murphy, VP of Sales for AmaWaterways adds, "Our cruises are designed to deliver unforgettable experiences for our guests. Stephen’s outgoing personality and depth of knowledge over a wide range of winemaking and musical topics makes him an excellent choice for AmaWaterways."
Partnering with Notaviva is Loudoun-based travel agency, Expedia CruiseShipCenters of Leesburg, who is offering travel incentives and special packages. Co-founders Val Kittson and Jane Munzell were the visionaries who brought Notaviva Vineyards and AmaWaterways together. "We knew instantly that Stephen and his wife Shannon were the perfect couple to sail with. Their knowledge and down-to-earth manner will be such a delight during the cruise," said Kittson.
"Melodies of the Danube" hosted by Notaviva Vineyards sails out of Budapest on November 11, 2015. Bookings may be placed at http://www.WineAndWaterways.com.
