Symmetry Electronics is excited to announce a new distribution partnership with Silicon Motion Technology Corporation, a global leader and pioneer in developing controller ICs for NAND flash storage devices, embedded graphics, and specialty RF ICs for mobile devices.

Silicon Motion specializes in mobile storage, mobile communications, and multimedia SoCs, and their products are widely used in many of the leading smartphones and other mobile devices in the market today. Their controllers support many current and next generation NAND flash products. Silicon Motion leads the industry in supplying innovative controllers for managing the most advanced process geometry NAND flash including the latest generation TLC (3-bit per cell) flash. They are the leader in merchant eMMC controllers for smartphones and tablets and in memory card and USB flash drive controllers, and are increasingly focused on client SSD controllers for notebook PCs and other applications. Silicon Motion is also a dedicated provider of 4G LTE transceivers for Samsung’s smartphones and tablets as well as a leading provider of graphics and mobile TV SoCs.

Silicon Motion’s FerriSSD family of SSD products integrates their own controller into a single BGA package with the option of SLC or MLC flash. “The FerriSSD product is a great fit for many of Symmetry’s customers in the Medical, Industrial, Gaming, POS, and other embedded markets,” says David Beck, Vice President of Marketing at Symmetry Electronics. “The FerriSSD, which is available in BGA or pluggable module form factors, provides embedded customers a flexible offering of different densities, interfaces, and three levels of FLASH reliability: SLC, SLCmode, and MLC.”
