Scottsdale Agency Beats Odds Found in Recent Small Business Study with Strong Vision and Marked Success
Scottsdale, Arizona (PRWEB) February 14, 2014 -- In a recent combined study by Entrepreneur Weekly, the Small Business Development Center at Bradley University and the University of Tennessee, 71 percent of small businesses were found to fail within the first 10 years. However, after nearly nine years, Scottsdale marketing communications agency Ideas Collide continues to beat those odds in a major way.
In the past year, the agency saw nine new hires join the firm, an expanding roster of clients both within Arizona and internationally, as well as prominent recognitions from HSMAI, Travel Weekly, Hotels Magazine and the Phoenix Business Journal.
“It starts with a vision and defining goals,” said agency Founder and Chief Strategist Matthew Clyde, who Phoenix Business Journal recently named as one of the Top 40-Under-40 and Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) named as one of the Top 25 Extraordinary Minds in Sales and Marketing.
In high school, Clyde dreamed of launching his business and mapped out the concept of his creative agency. His career took off at 19 when he received the Sundance Institute’s Young Writer’s Award. While at the Sundance Lab, Franklin Covey Co. noticed his talents and invited Clyde to join their Innovation and Marketing team to help develop products and campaigns for Stephen R. Covey, the best-selling author of “The 7-Habits of Highly Effective People.”
In 2005, after a diverse career working in Fortune 500 organizations, leading industry organizations and small start-ups, Clyde used his experience to turn his dream into reality. Invent Ideas. Integrate Solutions. Create Impact. With this clear and concise vision, Ideas Collide began. “After defining the vision, it was about finding the right people with the same passion to drive it,” said Clyde.
Once the agency set up its strategic branding studio, three key clients already sought strategy and support for a variety of initiatives. To grow the agency and leverage the opportunities coming in the door, Matt assembled a team including his most important partner, his wife, Rebecca Allred Clyde, recognized as one of the “Top 35 Entrepreneurs Under 35” by the Arizona Republic. Rebecca joined the agency to run strategic communications and expanding brands in the high-tech sector. In 2007, Creative Director Michael Mason joined, rounding out the agency’s partner team and the three continue to build the vision together.
The Ideas Collide team now consists of 25 employees – 9 of whom were hired in 2013. More new hires and growth are in the works already in 2014. “Over the last eight years, I have been extremely fortunate to build my current agency team. ‘Act like owners’ is one of our driving values. Each team member has a strong sense of dedication and ownership of the work we do for our clients. It’s personal to each of us.”
Clyde led Ideas Collide to earn a Top 5 Small Agency award in Arizona from Ranking Arizona Magazine and a recipient of a 2011 IMPACT Award in the Company Culture Category. Rounding out eight years of successful business, Ideas Collide was awarded - together with long-time client Best Western International as the 2012 eMarketer of the Year by HSMAI. In 2013, Phoenix Business Journal recognized agency founder with the “40 Under 40” designation and Ideas Collide as one of Phoenix’s Top 25 Best Places to Work (Micro-Companies category).
“I’m living my dream,” Clyde said. “I always wanted to launch my own agency. We reached many goals and major milestones in the last eight years. I’m excited for the years ahead, knowing what a great organization we built with a team of incredibly talented individuals that will make it happen.”
