Daytona 500 Kicks Off 6th Year for NASCAR Green Program Sited by Trade Show Display Environmental Leader Absolute Exhibits
Tustin, CA (PRWEB) February 11, 2014 -- The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) is making every effort to encourage their legion of fans to have a positive impact on the environment. In the past five years NASCAR has encouraged their 70 million plus fans to accelerate earth-friendly behaviors. Broadcasting in over 150 countries, NASCAR is second only to the National Football League among professional sports franchises in terms of television ratings in the United States and holds 17 of the top 20 regularly attended single-day sporting events in the world. In much the same way that major trade show convention centers have turned a call for sustainability into their new action plan over the past ten years, NASCAR continues to educate fans on the benefits of recycling at the track through Coca-Cola and Coors Light. Safety-Kleen Systems Inc. collects and refines more than 200,000 gallons of race-used oil annually. Goodyear spearheads a responsible recycling program for tires and recycling does not stop there. Sprint’s, Recycle for Victory, program has recycled more than 24 million phones. In the same spirit Absolute Exhibits’ Green Program recycles all of our used exhibit rental materials and has recycled everything from carpet to wood and aluminum.
Much of today’s largest trade shows that move more than 100,000 people through a venue city in 7-10 working days create an enormous amount of surplus waste, foodstuff, resources, and energy, NASCAR events do the same thing. With programs established over the past decade the trade show industry carbon footprint is decreasing. Absolute Exhibits, being a trade show display builder, has been on the forefront of decreasing our carbon footprint in every city that we go to. Thanks to NASCAR Green each city visited by NASCAR also receives a sustainability makeover as well.
Key Components of NASCAR Green can be found at the NASCAR website, including a brochure enumerating the individual race teams and race tracks and their contribution to sustainability awareness. NASCAR and the trade show industry are working to minimize the environmental impact of events. Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. High acclaim is to be given to both groups for acknowledging and understanding the future.
