Grammy nominee & R&B crooner “Tank” discusses white artists taking over R&B, sexuality in music and his new single on Maria Menounos' Black Hollywood Live Network
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 10, 2014 -- (blackhollywoodlive.com) Singer, Producer, Writer and Actor "Tank" discussed Pharrell Williams' upcoming performance at the Oscars. “Pharell might be one of the greatest all around entities of all time, from a writer to producer to artist to performer.. for him to be able to go from Grindin to Happy... he deserves it."
When asked about his view on the state of R&B music and the takeover of white & pop artists in the category, Tank responded “We can't hate on what it is.. we're where we are... and Robin Thicke and Justin Timberlake are doing R&B music better than us... we need to catch up. What am I gonna do about the fact that the AMA's in the R&B soul category nominated Robin Thicke, Justin Timberlake and Rihanna?.. What am I gonna do about that? It's not her fault that she's in the R&B soul category”.
During his interview, Tank gave his reaction to the recent announcement about a group of Christians trying to ban Shakira and Rihanna's new steamy video because it promoted homosexuality. “It's just life man, God created us all, So if we can't show that.. if we can't be artistically articulate in showing the different sides of life, then what's the point?
Tank has been busy performing and working on his highly anticipated new single “Your My Star” with hitmaker Harvey Mason Jr. “The music universe has finally made its way back around to my strength.. and I think that's what's going to be different about the response to the record. “We're putting live horns on the new single Jerry Hay, Michael Jackson I'll just stop there.. very expensive session but well worth it" said Tank.
