Washington Finance Student Covers A Great Big World, Aguilera Hit “Say Something”
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) February 11, 2014 -- Seattle-native Athan Dumont is taking on the world, one song at a time. The local finance student-turned-musician started his singing career with humble beginnings at an early age by singing within his church. His latest achievement: covering the recent ballad “Say Something” by A Great Big World featuring Christina Aguilera. “I didn’t anticipate much from the song but I am excited with the feedback that I’ve gotten and would love to continue to pursue music as a full-time career,” said Dumont.
Dumont had taken piano lessons when he was young but strayed from the instrument for several years. Like riding a bike, he jumped back on without a hitch and continued on to also teach himself guitar four years ago. Dumont has kept his love for music alive not only through instruments but with vocals throughout his life, singing both for fun and within his church (St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Seattle) where his father serves as presiding Priest and lead Pastor.
Dumont’s subtle yet striking vocals intertwine nicely with somber undertones in music, but also provide a sweet innocence. That difference in intensity not only captures the depth of this specific piece but also allows Dumont to provide a new, deeper layer to any piece he performs.
Dumont is in his third year studying Finance at the University of Washington. When he is not aiming to further his music, you can find him studying or spending time with his family and friends.
