Make it British announces first ever trade show exclusively for British fashion and textile manufacturers
(PRWEB UK) 14 February 2014 -- Make it British is launching the first and only sourcing event exclusively for British clothing, textile and leathergoods manufacturers this summer, called Meet the Manufacturer. This major two day event, held at The Truman Brewery in London’s East End on the 11th and 12th June 2014, will showcase the best British manufacturers in the fashion and textiles industry.
More than just a trade fair, Meet the Manufacturer will provide fantastic opportunities for UK manufacturers, designers and buyers to network together under one roof; in an environment that is open and collaborative. “Our aim is not only to introduce buyers from companies of all sizes to factories that can make their products, but also to inspire them with a programme of thought-provoking seminars led by industry experts that can provide guidance on manufacturing in the UK,” stated Kate Hills, the Founder of the website Make it British which is launching the show.
This inaugural event has come in response to what Hills saw as a huge increase in requests to the Make it British website from designers, buyers and sourcing directors looking for quality British factories to make their products. “As enquires for UK manufacturers has increased significantly over the last year, I realised that there was no one sourcing event for buyers to attend to meet them all. The manufacturers too were contacting us looking to reach new customers. I found myself providing a matchmaking service between both parties, and quickly recognised this event could streamline this service and bring added value.”
As well as an exhibition presenting some of the top knitters, weavers, tanneries, leathergoods makers, CMT units and lingerie factories in the country, buyers will also have the opportunity to pre-book one-to-one appointments to meet with key manufacturers that meet their requirements. “We are expecting our Meet the Buyers sessions to be extremely popular. There is no other opportunity like this in the UK for people to speed-date with textile factories in this manner,” she explained.
Kate is working alongside the highly acclaimed fashion industry catwalk king John Walford to help bring Meet the Manufacturer to life. John is the original founder of Vauxhall Fashion Scout and Director of Walford Shows. He brings to Meet the Manufacturer his extensive experience from working on numerous high profile events including Bath in Fashion and London Fashion Week.
The Truman Brewery on Brick Lane is in the heart of London’s East End, an area that was once the home of many of the City’s weavers and clothing manufacturers. “It felt important to host Meet the Manufacturer somewhere where there was a strong connection to fashion and textiles.” Hills continues, “but also that was easily accessible to the buyers and designers that want to meet them. In bringing manufacturers from all over the British Isles to this vibrant part of London we hope to further invigorate an industry that is still very much alive and kicking.”
