When Priceline.com went from zero to $1 billion in sales in just 18 months, Fred Catona played a key role. The marketing expert then went on to build another billion-dollar brand, FreeCreditReport.com. Catona will share his experiences in launching companies and helping other organizations navigate their way to success during a Smart Talk presentation at the University City Science Center. The program will take place Wednesday, February 19, from 8:30 – 10 a.m. at Quorum at the Science Center, 3711 Market Street, Suite 800, Philadelphia. Catona’s distinctive system for direct response marketing has gained success for large companies such as DisneyOnLine.com and smaller entrepreneurial enterprises like A Taste of Philadelphia.
Catona is known for implementing marketing strategies utilizing celebrity-driven, direct-response advertising. He has signed various celebrities, including Richard Simmons, Fran Tarkenton, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Kathy Ireland to spokesperson endorsements. His experience spans all phases of marketing including internet, print, TV, radio, home shopping and infomercials. He has also been featured in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Philadelphia Inquirer, Entrepreneur Magazine and over 100 TV, radio, magazine and online media outlets.
