Announcement: BluesGuitar.com releases “Acoustic Blues Guitar Lesson - Guitar Intro Riff in the key of A Blues - Robert Johnson Style”
(PRWEB) February 12, 2014 -- A “riff” is the catchy part of a song that sticks in your head. One of the most recognizable guitar riffs of all time is “Smoke on the water” by Deep Purple.
Jon starts off this lesson by demonstrating an A7 chord as follows; first finger on the 7th fret of the 4th string, 3rd finger on the 9th fret of the 3rd string, 8th fret of the 2nd string with his 2nd finger, and 9th fret of first string with 4th finger. MacLennan strums the whole chord once and then plays the first string 3 more times all as 1/8th notes (1-&-2-&). Next, he slides the chord down one half step except for his first finger stays on the 7th fret, which makes A dim (diminished) and repeats the strum pattern. Next, he changes to a Dm6/A chord by switch his 2nd finger to the 7th fret of the 4th string, 3rd finger on the 7th fret 3rd string, first finger on 6th fret of the 2nd string and 4th finger on 7th fret first string and repeats the strumming patter and finishes it off with the open 5th string and 5th fret first string played simultaneously as a whole note and then he finishes it off with a turn around.
