Fordham IP Institute: A Conversation with Hon. Denny Chin (Feb. 25)
New York, NY (PRWEB) February 13, 2014 -- The Fordham Intellectual Property Institute invites you to join us on February 25, 2014, at 6pm for A Conversation with Hon. Denny Chin: Litigating, Judging and Intellectual Property Law. The event will be moderated by Professor Hugh C. Hansen (Director, Fordham IP Institute).
Since 2010, Judge Chin has served as a United States Circuit Judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Prior to his current appointment, he served as a U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of New York from 1994 to 2010. During his time in the federal judiciary, Judge Chin has presided over criminal and civil cases, including a number of IP cases. Most recently, in Authors Guild, Inc. v. Google Inc., 954 F. Supp. 2d 254 (S.D.N.Y. Nov. 14, 2013), Judge Chin, sitting by designation, held that Google’s mass digitization of copyrighted books was a fair use. In another case that was recently granted certiorari by the Supreme Court of the United States, ABC, Inc. v. Aereo, Inc. (No. 13-461), Judge Chin dissented from the Second Circuit panel decision and denial of rehearing en banc in a case involving public performance and internet streaming of broadcast television. The discussion will cover a wide range of topics with a focus on intellectual property law.
The event is open to the public. Admission is free.
