Compassion International Partners with Award-Winning Producers and Multiple Churches in 40 U.S. Cities to Promote “Son of God” Feature Film

Compassion International is providing tickets to see “Son of God” to Churches in 40 major cities.

Compassion International's generosity allows us the opportunity to encourage Christians who may rarely go to the theatre, to see a powerful Christian film and to take an unchurched friend along with them.

Compassion International is partnering with actress/producer Roma Downey (“Touched by an Angel,” “The Bible”) and producer Mark Burnett’s (“The Voice,” “Survivor,” “Shark Tank” and “The Bible”) LightWorkers Media to promote their movie, “Son of God” to multiple churches and communities across 40 U.S. cities.

Through the partnership, Compassion is providing tickets to churches in 40 major cities, including Phoenix, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Chicago. Those churches are using the tickets as an outreach opportunity—inviting their congregants and community members to see the film on opening weekend, beginning Feb. 28. A special message from Downey and Burnett will welcome viewers in those cities.

“Making ‘Son of God’ was a life-changing experience,” says Downey. “The movie shows just how much Jesus cared for children and the poor. The work of this world-class ministry of Compassion is perfectly aligned with the message of Jesus. Our hope is that people who see this movie will continue the work of Jesus by caring for children and the poor. One of the best ways to do that is to sponsor a child through Compassion.”

And this film tells it in a beautiful, captivating way. The Gospel account of Jesus’ life is a central part of our program’s curriculum. That’s why we’re working with churches throughout the country to make this film an opportunity for outreach.”
