NAVEOS® Qualifies Winthrop-University Hospital for $2.5M+ in Medicare DSH Reimbursement for HFY2008 and Will Serve as DSH Consultant Over Next 4 Years
Sterling, VA (PRWEB) February 14, 2014 -- Winthrop-University Hospital, a 591-bed medical center in Mineola, New York, qualified for the federal government’s Medicare Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) program for its 2008 Hospital Fiscal Year (HFY) based upon its initial Medicare cost report filing. However, at the final audit of the hospital’s DSH log, which had been prepared by another vendor, the Medicare auditor denied a number of inappropriate Medicaid days and the hospital no longer qualified for participation in the program. This caused the hospital to return over $2.5 million in operating DSH payments to Medicare.
NAVEOS® discovered and documented enough additional Medicaid Title XIX days to re-qualify the hospital for operating DSH reimbursement, and served as the primary contact with the Medicare auditors. Timothy Reilly, AVP, Financial Planning & Reimbursement, of Winthrop-University Hospital states: “NAVEOS® worked with the Medicare Administrative Contractor throughout the extensive reopening process in a highly professional fashion and succeeded where previous attempts had failed.”
Due to this achievement, Winthrop University Hospital has hired NAVEOS® to be its primary DSH consultant for HFY’s 2013-2016.
