Atlanta's BCA sold to Virginia IT Company; Former Employees Launch Healthcare Venture
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 20, 2014 -- Business Computer Applications, Inc..(BCA) has announced that the nearly 40-year-old Atlanta-based company has been sold to Falls Church, VA technology firm Acentia, Inc. and former BCA executives have spun off a newly created healthcare IT and software development company, KaZee, Inc. according to Albert Woodard, former BCA CEO, who is heading up KaZee.
Approximately 65 BCA Atlanta and Hyattsville, MD employees and associates were picked up by Acentia, the majority working on projects with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) in Atlanta and Hyattsville, MD where BCA has served as a prime contractor for a major section of the CDC’s Information Management Services (CIMS) Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) award contract.
KaZee, which is headquartered in Atlanta, began operations January 1, 2014 and is concentrating its efforts on providing innovative and proven management information systems to the healthcare industry.
Woodard, says that the new firm is poised to respond to unprecedented demand for healthcare services as a result of changes in patient populations, technology advances, government regulations and scientific breakthroughs.
“We expect to see nearly 80 million new patients added to the Medicare roles in the next 20 years as baby boomers become eligible for Medicare coverage,” says Woodard. “At the same time the number of newborns continues to increase year over year, and more and more military veterans are requiring healthcare.
“KaZee is capitalizing on the industry’s ability to provide healthcare services to patients via a number of different avenues as a result of improved technology such as telemedicine supported by full time access to patient charts stored in Electronic Medical Records systems and databases,” he explains. “Through social media and other types of personal computing we are becoming more and more capable of getting patients involved in their own healthcare, creating a huge opportunity to change behavior, focus on prevention, provide better treatment, monitor outcomes and control the cost of providing quality care.”
KaZee’s staff includes healthcare professionals, researchers, IT system designers, software developers, process engineers, and data managers. “KaZee has combined a staff of young, vibrant and highly talented software developers with a seasoned group of healthcare professionals and managers,” says Woodard.
“The vast opportunities provided to us by our customers enable us to strive to ensure our employees and business partners remain incentivized to be engaged in a field that enables them to look back at the end of each day and realize they have positively made a difference by helping people live healthy productive lives.”
