Bucking the drought conditions which have gripped most the west, another massive system of weather dumped a 25” blanket of fresh snow on the Sun Valley region over four days. Sun Valley has had good skiing and snowboard conditions most of the winter despite the drought conditions which had gripped the west, but a massive system of weather dumped a 25” blanket of fresh snow on the resort over four days. This development has turned the entire mountain on with the bowls and glades all now skiing very well.

The National Weather Service has a winter storm warning issued for the area through the weekend predicting up to 20” of new snow for Baldy. Sun Valley Heli Guides have been keeping an obsessive eye on the weather and are forecasting a “cataclysmic snow event” citing the perfect combination of moisture levels and winds aloft as an alignment of conditions which should bring an abundance of snow to the area in the coming days.
