The browser tool bar and add-on developers BestToolBars have followed up their previous research revealing the top five most essential features for a cashback browser plug in. In its latest study, it has compiled a list of the top five features which it believes encourage user loyalty amongst plug in users.

In the list, entitled β€˜Top 5 Cashback Browser Plugin Features That Improve User Loyalty’ the top spot is taken up, unsurprisingly perhaps, by cashback notifications. The BestToolBars team determined that cashback notifications were the single most likely feature to nurture user loyalty and keep them continuing using the plug in because this functionality reminds the user how much cash they will get back with each purchase.

Valery Kuznetsov, Key Projects Manager at Besttoolbars said, β€œThe notification slider is always noticed by users but at the same time it is not intrusive and does not impede the user experience. In fact we found that it brings next to no negative reaction from users. This is reached by displaying the notification at the exact moment when user needs it: at the moment of browsing your affiliated merchant's website.”

Second on the list is SERP injection, which displays an icon next to the relevant search results when users browse on Google, Yahoo, Bing or other search engine. This was deemed to be critical to user loyalty because it helps shoppers to see instantly which sites they should visit to get the benefit of cash back.

The third most useful feature for creating user loyalty was found to be price comparison. This function helps the shopper find better deals and the same products they are actively searching for at lower prices. BestToolBars estimates that many users download a cashback browser plug in specifically for this purpose as many often will not have the time or inclination to carry out potentially lengthy price comparisons manually.

In fourth place is the coupon auto apply feature which is thought to engineer user loyalty by the simple fact that it saves the shopper a job and ensures they never miss a cash back opportunity.

Finally, the browser add on developers recommend a single all-browser installer feature to make distribution of the add on quick and easy. Its research has shown that this feature increases user take up and user engagement levels.
