The Next Generation Of Nigerian Tech Startups Compete For $20,000 In The TechCabal Battlefield
Lagos (PRWEB) February 18, 2014 -- Nigeria's leading tech blog, TechCabal has searched out young Nigerian tech startups to compete for fame, glory and the ultimate prize of $20,000 -- the largest reward of its kind for tech startups in Nigeria ever.
After a rigorous selection process, the competition is now officially underway. Seven finalists have emerged out of a fiercely competitive pool of over ninety startup applications from all over Nigeria - 500Shops, Adugbo, Callbase, CasaGrupo, Decoded, Autobox and PrepClass.
Each of the successful contenders have been paired with mentors, a faculty of seasoned professionals in Nigerian technology and business to help them think through product, technology, business and pitch, preparatory to the Battlefield finale on the 21st of February. The seven faculty-honed startups will present their ventures to a panel of five judges as well as an audience of press, investors and all excited about innovation in Nigeria and Africa.
The world is already familiar with Nigerian technology startups like Interswitch, Sproxil, iROKO, Jobberman, Wakanow, Paga, Konga and more. Collectively and in the last decade, these companies have unlocked hundreds of millions of dollars in local value and foreign investment.
"TechCabal Battlefield represents another milestone in the fast developing techpreneur space in Nigeria. It is helping showcase the best of Nigerian developers, and I am excited about being part of it," said Tomi Davies, Chairman of the Lagos Angel Network, and a member of the TechCabal Battlefield Faculty.
The TechCabal Battlefield finale takes place at 6:30pm (Nigerian time) on the 21st of February at Four Points by Sheraton, where the panel of judges, including Jason Njoku of iROKO Partners, Akin Oyebode of Stanbic IBTC, Ayodeji Adewunmi of Jobberman, Gbenga Sesan of Paradigm Initiative Nigeria, and one mystery judge will decide which startup will emerge victorious and claim the $20,000 prize.
