Avamere Rehabilitation of Oregon City and Timbers Defender, Futty Danso, Team Up for Medical Supply Drive to Benefit The Gambian Hospital in Brikama
Oregon City, OR (PRWEB) February 14, 2014 -- The Heart of Caring is strong at Avamere Rehabilitation of Oregon City according to the skilled nursing campus’s administrator, Nate Dawson. “I’m inspired by the staff at our facility. They spend all day caring for people here, then go into their communities where they continue to have an impact.”
In the case of Buba Jada and Moe Adema, who immigrated to America over a decade ago, their positive impact is felt thousands of miles away in their home country – The Gambia. The two certified nurse assistants work closely with the Brikama Society, which is based in Seattle, WA. The Brikama Society was founded to “help and participate in community projects within the greater Brikama region,” with an emphasis on raising funds and materials to benefit the area’s under-served hospital. Brikama is one of the largest cities in The Gambia.
“When you see people here in the States, then you go back home and see everyone with no health care – it’s sad; very sad,” says Jada. “And sometimes you see people sharing hospital beds or laying on the floor at the hospital because they don’t have the resources to treat everyone.” Jada hopes the upcoming benefit will raise enough money, lightly used clothing, and medical supplies to have a lasting effect for the people of Brikama.
“We’re planning on having a lot of fun during medical supply drive,” says Dawson. “This is such a great, uplifting cause – plus we’ll have some delicious BBQ and what better way to spend an evening than hanging out with one of Timbers’ star players – Futty Danso?”
