PlayCore's National Demonstration Site Award Program Identifies Best Practice Locations in Outdoor Adult Fitness Parks
Chattanooga, TN (PRWEB) February 20, 2014 -- PlayCore, the leading company in play and recreation research, programming, and products, recently expanded its National Demonstration Site program to align with the release of its latest best practice guidebook, Outdoor Adult Fitness Parks, Best Practices for Promoting Community Health by Increasing Physical Activity. The book, designed to help communities evaluate, design, implement, program, and market outdoor fitness areas for adults, was created with an expert advisory committee and includes sections on the benefits of outdoor exercise, as well as marketing and evaluation sections.
The new guidebook also includes the keys to providing a well rounded workout, and shares case studies of model National Demonstration Sites-communities that utilize the Outdoor Fitness Park best practices and wish to share their successful programs with other communities. PlayCore is working with communities throughout North America to identify new National Demonstration Sites, communities who follow the best practices outlined in the research guidebook to promote fitness locally.
“We are amazed and thrilled with the responses and requests from communities that wish to incorporate this program into their parks and be a National Demonstration Site,” said Anne-Marie Spencer, PlayCore’s Corporate VP of Marketing.” She added, “The sites receive certification and signage identifying their Outdoor Adult Fitness Park as a National Demonstration Site. They also become part of a national registry, and are promoted actively to other communities wishing to offer appropriate outdoor fitness for adults to help share best practices. We know the evidence-based benefits of outdoor exercise are many, and including outdoor fitness parks as an element of a diverse outdoor recreation system promotes community capital. We are excited to be working closely with so many communities to advance health and recreation opportunities with this initiative.”
Ocala, FL, and Roswell GA, are the latest communities who have received the designation, and have been added to the National Database of Fitness Sites found at http://www.playcore.com/fitness. Communities wishing to become Fitness National Demonstration Sites, and learn more about the benefits may contact PlayCore or log on to playcore.com/fitness.
