Ray Chevrolet Hosts Blood Drive Saturday, 2/22
Fox Lake, IL (PRWEB) February 17, 2014 -- Ray Chevrolet of Fox Lake is proud to announce their upcoming community blood drive on Saturday, 2.22.14 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Ray Chevrolet invites the public to come out and donate blood to support life in the Chicagoland community. The drive will be set up in the 2nd floor conference room at the dealership, in partnership with LifeSource, Chicagoland's Blood Center.
Appointments are recommended to ensure that the LifeSource staff will be able to accommodate all donors. Donors can schedule an appointment by calling LifeSource at 1-877-543-3768 or online at http://www.lifesource.org using sponsor code 488B. Ray Chevrolet is located at 39 N. Rt 12 Fox Lake, IL.

With just one blood donation, donors can save multiple lives. Approximately 37 percent of the population is eligible to donate blood, but less than 5 percent do. Without donors, LifeSource would not be able to fulfill their live saving mission and service the thousands of patients in need of blood transfusions each year. There are basic qualifications that every donor must meet; most restrictions are because of medical and travel history. The actual donation process is quick, easy and painless.
Prior To Donating
Donors must have a valid ID on the day of the blood drive. A LifeSource or military ID, driver’s license, or employee badge with picture and full name are all approved forms of ID. Birth certificate along with a picture ID that includes the donor full name will also be accepted. Eligible donors can donate anywhere between three and 24 times each year, depending on your type of donation and whether you are eligible to donate. Ensure you meet the eligibility requirements to donate blood. Donors should eat a healthy meal with low-fat and iron-rich foods, and drink plenty of fluid. Donors should also wear warm, non-restrictive clothing to the blood drive.
Do not smoke for at least one hour before donation. Do not chew gum, mints or candy immediately before or during your donation. If you are donating platelets, do not take aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for at least 48 hours before your donation

All centers collect whole blood donations and many of the sites also collect platelet and plasma products. In addition, they operate an average of 10 daily mobile blood drives around the area.
