TechJini are Winners at the NASSCOM 10K Startup Hackathon
Princeton, NJ (PRWEB) February 17, 2014 -- TechJini, a rapidly-growing mobile application development company with global delivery capability won the top prize at the FinTechHackthon organized in Bangalore, India in the weekend of 8th-9th February 2014.
Hack-a-Fin brings together top tier developers and designers to develop financial products and discover new technologies. Sample applications include innovations in risk management, trading, big data, retail banking, regulatory compliance, mobile payments and enterprise social. APIs and platforms from technology partners are made available during the Hackathon. In the two day event, participants had to code, validate their ideas, network and then demo their hacks to a panel of VCs, executives and entrepreneurs.
The event was very well attended and represented by teams from premier institutions including the the IITs (Indian Institute of Technology), and internet doyens such as Google Inc. With a winning idea and picture perfect execution, the TechJini team made an app which provides a simple voice to text interface to one’s finances. The app named Thirukkural, which means simple and powerful, was true to its essence of facilitating hands-free access to one’s finances over one’s personal smartphone. One can simply ask the app how much was spent on a certain card on any day and in response it automatically gives you the number.
“We’ve always known that we have the most amazing people across the organization, but it’s nice when others acknowledge it too. I whole-heartedly congratulate our winning team for knowing the way, going the way and showing the way“, says a beaming Shyamal Mehta, CEO and co-founder.
About the app
Mukund Mohan, Director of Microsoft ventures covered the event in his blog: http://capitalmind.in/2014/02/the-largest-industry-is-the-one-thats-the-least-disrupted-fintech-hackathon/
In his words, “This app provides a simple voice to text interface to your finances. Instead of logging into your credit card website to get your card limit, or log into your bank account to get your bank balance, or log into your DEMAT account to get your asset allocation, you can just ask it simple English questions by speaking to it. For example: say how much did I spend last month and it collects information from all your credit cards and debit cards and gives you one simple answer. Pretty neat. They were a crowd favorite and the winner of the hackathon as well”.
