Alcohol Professor's Perfect Cocktail to Celebrate Presidents Day
New York, NY (PRWEB) February 17, 2014 -- This is a wonderful rye and rum cocktail from the Alcohol Professor to celebrate Presidents Day the way our Founding Fathers would have enjoyed a cocktail.
"On General Principle"
44 ml (1.5 oz) Straight Rye Whiskey
30 ml (1 oz) Gold Rum
heaping bar spoon Cherry Preserves
3 drops Cherry bitters
Garnish: 3 Cocktail Cherries
Shake all ingredients except garnish with ice until well chilled.
Double strain into rocks glass over large ice cube, if you have one, otherwise over a few rocks. Add the cherries.
The Alcohol Professor recommends Old Ipswich Tavern Style rum which was a silver winner in the New York International Spirits Competition along with previous winners Privateer Amber Rum and Berkshire Mountain Distillers Ragged Mountain.
The Alcohol Professor recommends using Hillrock Estate Rye distilled by the great craft distiller pioneer David Pickerell. Mr Pickerell had an important role in restarting George Washington's Distillery at Mt Vernon with the support of Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS).
The Alcohol Professor showcases the top winners from the New York International Spirits Competition, New York International Wine Competition, New York International Beer Competition and the upcoming Berlin International Spirits Competition being held March 2-3rd 2014.
