Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) February 19, 2014
MoneyBlock, an online broker-dealer serving independent reps and advisors, announced today that Joseph Cusick has joined the firm as Vice President of Wealth and Asset Management. Cusick, who previously led development of optionsXpress’ education programs, will lead development of MoneyBlock’s wealth-management platform, targeting independent reps and advisors managing more than $25 million.
“Despite having many choices in a broker-dealer, independent reps and advisors are still drastically underserved by the uniform technology or capabilities many brokers offer,” said Steve Hoffman, CEO of MoneyBlock. “With his experience in both the options-trading and advisory spaces, Joe Cusick is the right person to lead MoneyBlock’s platform development, giving RIAs and hybrid advisors access to intuitive, technologically-driven management tools and solutions.”
At MoneyBlock, Cusick will build out the capabilities within MoneyBlock’s proprietary management platform.
“Many broker-dealers confine advisors to generic allocation strategies or vanilla portfolio services, which can make it challenging for advisors to generate consistent returns, and differentiate or add value to their investment services,” said Joe Cusick. “MoneyBlock believes that advisors should be given more tools to professionally manage their clients’ books, including options-trading capabilities. MoneyBlock’s platform is about empowering wealth managers with tools to better manage and grow their business, and not limit them to predefined or proprietary products.”
Cusick was previously the senior vice president of education at optionsXpress, where he created and implemented education and media programs to help investors and advisors incorporate options as an equity portfolio management tool. He also served as a member of the platform development team. Prior to Charles Schwab’s acquisition of optionsXpress, Joe lent his market and derivative expertise to help launch the firm’s brokersXpress subsidiary, where he developed several risk-sensitive equity allocation and tactical derivative programs which incorporated his experience of using options to reduce risk and amplify yield.
Prior to his time at optionsXpress and brokersXpress, Cusick was a market maker on the Chicago Board Options Exchange.
