Client Services Incorporated (CSI) is recognizing employee Brandi Young and her boys Damien and Daryn for saving a family from a potentially devastating fire. The two boys were visiting their grandmother in Shawnee, Kansas when they noticed a fire had broken out of the neighbor’s wood burning stove.
The boys, who are only seven and eight, were stunned but their quick thinking helped avoid a potentially devastating house fire. “I got really shocked and I was like, 'Oh no, what do I gotta do now. I might as well tell my brother so he can tell someone else,'” Damien said. Then Daryn explained, “My brother told me and I just got into the house and told my mom.” Brandi then alerted the Knopf family that their home was on fire.
Chris Knopf, who has spent years remodeling and adding on to his home, had no idea his house was on fire. “We've been working on it a long time plus working full time trying to make a living and trying to add on to the house at the same time,” explained Knopf. “If you look at it, it's not finished. There are no fire blocks, we don't have sheetrock, there's no insulation, so it would have gone up very fast. In 15 minutes the whole side of that would have been on fire, it would have been quick.”
Thanks to the boys’ quick thinking, the damage from the fire was minimal and has already been fixed. Cost of repairs was only around $1,500.
Brandi Young, who’s been with CSI for over 3 years, has nothing but praise for her boys. “Everything happens for a reason and I believe that God wanted my two boys to be out here in the cold while my car was started to see that fire and be able to help this family.”
