Burlington, NJ (PRWEB) February 20, 2014 -- Vegetable gardening company and Seeds of the Month Club retailer, Mike the Gardener Enterprises, LLC, has expanded its club offerings from vegetable, fruit and herb seeds to include many popular variety of flower seeds.
The move, which was made late in 2013 and finalized in early 2014, was done so after popular demand by many of their current club members. “Club members kept overwhelmingly asking us if we were going to include flower seeds into club mailings or even start a flower seeds of the month club, that it was definitely something we had to look further into,” says company owner Michael C. Podlesny.
After a few non-scientific surveys conducted by Mike the Gardener Enterprises, over 80% of the respondents agreed that mixing in on occasion a few popular varieties of flower seeds would be a good thing.
“Flowers play an important role in many home gardeners plans in regards to companion planting and attracting beneficial insects to aid in organic gardening methods,” says Podlesny. “It makes complete sense that the results of the survey would be as high as they were to favor adding flower seeds into the monthly mailings.”
Podlesny went on to say that one of the biggest challenges was finding a flower seed provider that can not only handle the large amount of seeds his company would need to purchase to fulfill orders, but also make sure the flower seeds do not come from any pesticide treated farms or facilities.
“Our club members are very big on organic, non gmo gardening, and if we are going to offer flower seeds, we have to make sure those seeds are of the highest quality, at the same time affordable to include into club mailings without having to raise club prices,” Podlesny says.
The Seeds of the Month Club, which boasts members in all 50 states as well as members in over 17 countries, mails out 4 packs of different non gmo heirloom variety fruit, vegetable, herb and now flower seeds every single month.
“One of the great challenges of operating the Seeds of the Month Club is making sure we send out seeds to our members that are right for their growing zone, or are on the cusp of being `right` for their growing zone so as to challenge them in to growing something they are not that familiar with. Flowers will be another challenge we are looking forward to meeting.”
